Community Engagement makes a difference!

EiA Community Action Fair Our vibrant volunteers reach out to older adults, civic groups, businesses and other non-profit organizations, educating them about important issues impacting our aging society and the services Elders in Action provides. Elders in Action’s Education program has three volunteer options available:

  • INFORMATION & RESOURCE SHARING:   Tabling events are often the first impression an individual will get about your organization. If done correctly it will lend credibility and draw to our organization. Last year, our volunteers reached 4500 individuals at resource fair, wellness events, farmers market, civic gatherings and other places where older adults gather.
  • COMMUNITY EDUCATION:   Our volunteers do presentations to civic groups, businesses and other non-profit organizations information on current topics affecting older adults. In 2013, our team gave 81 presentations topics such as wellness, consumer protection and aging awareness training.  For a complete list of  speaking topics click here Gussie crop Community Engagement Offerings 2014.
  • COMMUNITY INVOLVEMENT:  Encore Action Teams utilize a service learning approach which create meaningful and rewarding  hands-on service experiences for  volunteers. Our Encore Action Teams provide service activities that are completed in a day or in a series which last a few weeks. Participants achieve a greater knowledge of issues affecting older adults and the projects make a real difference in people’s lives.
