Elders in Action volunteers recover $276,589 for victims of scams, wrongful billing and other problems.
Elders in Action Personal Advocate Services is the only program of its kind in Oregon. Powered by the experience and patience of trained volunteers, we helped 1,566 people 60 and older between July 1, 2006 and June 30, 2007. No problem is too big or too small. If it affects your quality of life we are here to help.
From a $500 deposit reimbursement for a condo fee to a $72,211 wrongly charged medical bill, our volunteers are here to phone, write, and advocate for the rights of individuals who are experiencing problems with crime, abuse, housing, or health care.
Elders in Action also helps prevent older adults from losing their homes to foreclosures, and falling victim to predatory lenders. Mature adults, many of whom are "cash poor, but equity-rich." have tapped the equity in their homes in ways that put that equity at risk.
Learn to protect yourself from unscrupulous lenders. Before you sign a loan agreement, carefully consider and understand all the items carefully. If you have questions talk to someone you trust and who is knowledgeable in this type of financial area, or call Elders in Action at 503 235-5474.
