New Elder FriendlyŽ Certified Business Directories Are Here

Minnesota is the latest member of the Elder Friendly family

The 2008-2009 Elder Friendly Business Directory has been published with a record number of local businesses joining the program. This year Elder Friendly Evaluators certified 244 local businesses that have made a personal commitment to better serve the older customer.

The Elder FriendlyŽ Business program has trained older adult volunteers who evaluate each business based on our access standards. Since 1993, this program has been helping employer's better serve the older customer by using our nationally recognized standard of service. Elders in Action's Elder FriendlyŽ Business Certification program is setting the national standard and precedent for helping businesses best serve older customers. Our program has been replicated in 15 sites in 11 states.

Most recently, the SE Minnesota Area Agency on Aging has purchased the Elder FriendlyŽ program for replication in 11 counties reaching over 86,000 people. Our Director of Operations, Leslie Foren will be traveling to Rochester, MN in September to train their program staff, volunteers and local community leaders on the Elder FriendlyŽ program.
