Elders in Action:

  • CONNECTS: people that can help with those that need assistance.

  • EMPOWERS: older adults to use their voice around issues important to them.

  • PROVIDES: meaningful meaningful volunteer opportunities for older adults.

  • WORKS: to create healthy and vibrant communities for people of all ages.

Through our advocacy, education, and volunteer opportunities, Elders in Action empowers older adults to tell their stories, to use their voices (and value those voices), to volunteer, and find assistance around a myriad of issues (such as affordable housing, transportation, financial fraud, or elder abuse).

Our Current Work Revolves Around a Few Core Areas:

  • The EIA Personal Advocate Program

  • Civic Involvement/Advocacy (direct advocacy, work with community partners, civic involvement training, and events)

  • Age-friendly Programs (the Age-friendly Business Network, PDX Age Smart & Age-friendly Awards, and more…

  • Community Education Offerings around topics such as: fraud/scam prevention, elder abuse, civic involvement, older adults and the economy, and community resilience

  • Partnerships – EIA works with partners in the public, private, and non-profit sectors throughout the Portland metro area. We consult with cities and counties on age-friendly practices and accessibility, partner on events and trainings with a wide variety of community partners, and advocate for older adults in many arenas throughout the year
